The Miniature Australian Shepherd as we call; Mini Aussies, has been accepted into AKC. With this acceptance, the Mini Aussie will have to change its breed name to Miniature American Shepherd.
4Paws will be keeping our name as 4Paws Miniature Aussies.
4Paws will be keeping some of our dogs in the old registry as Mini Aussies and some will go over to AKC,
as the Miniature American Shepherd.

The Miniature Australian Shepherd Club will remain in tact and continue to support Mini Aussie registrations and show venues.

- How will this affect you as a customer? It will only change your registration option if you choose to register your pet.
- Will I still be buying a miniature aussie from 4Paws? Yes. The name of the breed has only been changed to get the breed into AKC, otherwise nothing has changed.
- How will I know how to register my puppy? When you purchase your puppy, you will be shown which registration to register the puppies.
- What do I call my puppy? You can call your puppy a Mini Aussie or Miniature American Shepherd, they are the same. Officially, It will depend on the registration.
